Eligibility requirements:
  • The applicant must be a full-time, fully-qualified graduate student enrolled in a Master's (thesis) or PhD program in the field of Earth Sciences
  • The applicant’s research must align with the aims and objectives of the Gem & Mineral Federation of Canada (promote the earth sciences; protect collecting sites; educate collectors; and foster good will, friendship, and rapport among all member groups)
  • The applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 75% in the last two years of completed study
Eligible programs may include:
  • Civil, Geographical, & Environmental Engineering
  • Geography & Planning
  • Geological Sciences
  • Soil Sciences

In addition to applying online, applicants must provide the following:

  • A one-page letter from the applicant explaining how you meet the eligibility requirements for this competition
  • A two-page (maximum) description of your research project
  • A reference letter from your graduate program supervisor or someone familiar with your current research project describing how your research project applies to earth sciences
  • The applicant's up-to date CV
  • The applicant's unofficial University of Saskatchewan transcripts
