Hugh Nicholson Memorial Scholarship

Number offered: To be determined by the Selection Committee
Eligibility: M.Sc. or Ph.D graduate students in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science studying in the area of ruminant nutrition or animal breeding and genetics. Students are to be academically satisfactory. Need may be a consideration, as well as academic merit.
Preference is to be given to either Canadian students or to students from Uganda, Tanzania or Kenya.
Donor: Mrs. Ivy Nicholson, wife of the late Dr. Hugh Nicholson, has donated funds to the Department of Animal and Poultry Science in her husband's memory.
Dr. Nicholson, who joined the University in 1962, was instrumental in the establishment of our beef research unit, the ROP bull test station and an experimental feedmill. During his tenure, he was seconded to Makere University in Kampala, Uganda, from which developed his widely recognized interest and support for African graduate students. Dr. Nicholson passed away November 1990.
