Isabel María López Martínez Memorial Scholarship

Value: Up to $15,000
Eligibility: The scholarship is awarded to a full-time student undertaking graduate or post-doctoral studies and research in the Biology Department, University of Saskatchewan, on the basis of academic qualifications, related experience, and personal interests. The recipient must be a citizen of Canada or of Spain and must either be registered at the University of Saskatchewan or be registered at a Spanish University, but working on a temporary basis at the University of Saskatchewan. The award cannot be made to a citizen of the same country for more than three consecutive years and can only be made to the same recipient for a maximum of three years, subject to annual review by the designated selection committee.

The primary objective of the scholarship is to support research that is directed primarily to enhance the knowledge of wildlife and their habitat. A secondary objective is promotion of environmental and cultural exchange between Canada and Spain.

A scholarship may be awarded for a second year pending availability of funds and satisfactory progress of the applicant. There is no teaching requirement for the holder of the award.
Donor: The family and friends of the late Isabel María López Martínez have established a Memorial Scholarship in her name.
Apply: An application package should include:
  1. A statement of how the applicant’s work relates to the terms of reference (no more than 2 pages)
  2. A brief nomination from the supervisor
  3. A brief curriculum vitae
  4. Copies of transcripts from universities other than the U of S
  5. The names and contact information of 2 referees (not including the supervisor).
