ESL Bursary for International Students (CGSR)

Description:
|
The ESL Bursary for International Students (CGSR) is a support program for international graduate students who would like to strengthen their English language skills by taking a course offered through The Language Centre.
ESL bursaries will be available for the following courses:
1. Pronunciation
2. Spoken English (general speaking and listening skills)
3. Effective Writing and Grammar (reading or general writing and grammar skills)
4. Graduate-Level Writing

Eligibility:
|
There are three (3) eligibility criteria used in awarding a student an ESL Bursary
1. You must be registered as a full-time international graduate student at the U of S in a degree program when you apply for a bursary.
2. Your graduate supervisor or graduate chair has recommended that you take an ESL class.
3. You have met minimum English proficiency requirements at the University of Saskatchewan.
There are a limited number of bursaries available for students. If there are more qualified students than the number of bursaries available, priority will be given to those students who have not received a bursary in a previous term.

Application Procedure:

The following must be completed by the posted deadline:
1. Fill out the online application form at the link given below.
2. After you submit the online application, your graduate supervisor or graduate chair will be notified by email to complete their portion of the online application form.
Students who receive an ESL Bursary will be expected to:
1. Pay a non-refundable administration fee of $25.00 to The Language Centre.
2. Take a short placement test at The Language Centre to ensure you are placed in the appropriate level and class.
3. Maintain full-time registration in your graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan throughout the duration of the ESL class.
4. Attend the ESL class regularly and complete all assignments.
The ESL Bursary will only be available to you during the term that you applied and cannot be carried forward into another term. You will need to re-apply for another bursary by one of the application deadlines.
Application Deadlines:
August 15th for fall term
November 15th for winter term
March 15th for spring & summer terms
