TRLabs is a co-operative, applied research organization that builds on synergism and collaboration among its sponsors, focusing on telecommunications technologies. These awards are annually funded graduate awards and may be renewable for a second year based on the recipient's academic record for the year and a recommendation submitted by the supervising professor which discusses the recipient's thesis topic accomplishments. They may be granted for up to two years at the Master's level and up to three years at the doctoral level.

Value: Graduate Fellowship - $6000 Scholarship - $12,000

Eligibility: The research program covers technologies in networks and systems, network access, wireless communications, photonics, and data networking and related software. Awarded to full-time students in graduate degree programs who are undertaking their research work in master's or doctoral program at TRLabs, studying the development of engineering applications in telecommunications through disciplines of engineering, computing sciences, and other related fields. This award has been established to promote and advance technological innovations in the telecommunications field by joint participation between academic and industrial researchers. TRLabs Scholarship Committee will consider the following in making its award decision: (1) the academic qualifications of the nominee; (2) the nature of the research topic proposed by the supervisor; (3) The willingness of the individual to sign a TRLabs non-disclosure agreement; (4) the ability of TRLabs to grant awards; (5) the student's acceptance into the Faculty of Graduate Studies on a full-time basis; and (6) funding which the individual is receiving from other sources.

Application Procedure: Nominations are made to the TRLabs Scholarship Committee, who will recommend the successful nominees to the College of Graduate Studies and Research for a scholarship, fellowship or graduate award.
