Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship

Description: The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh announced a $10,000 scholarship during their 1987 visit to Saskatchewan . During their May 2005 visit, the amount of this scholarship was increased to $20,000. The scholarship is to be awarded annually for graduate or post-graduate study of Saskatchewan politics and government at either of Saskatchewan's universities on the basis of academic excellence. The scholarship amount will be awarded to one student or split between equally deserving candidates.

Eligibility: To be considered for The Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship, you must:
  • Be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant or protected person;
  • Have an undergraduate degree in any discipline at the time of commencement of the scholarship;
  • Have applied for admission or be enrolled in graduate or post-graduate studies related to Saskatchewan politics and government (which includes Crown, Legislature, executive and related institutions) at either the University of Saskatchewan or the University of Regina;
  • Be registered or intending to register as a full-time student for the 2012/2013 academic year;
  • Have applied for a thesis or project-based program and;
  • Complete and forward an application with all required accompanying information to the Saskatchewan university where you have applied to study by February 29.

  • Application Procedure: Application form will be found at the weblink below and may be completed on-line and printed. Attachments to the application form

  • one original and three photocopies of a one-page outline of your thesis/project topic or area of major research you intend to pursue for your graduate studies
  • one official transcript and three photocopies of your complete university academic record
  • two sealed letters of reference signed across the seal by the reference. No additional copies are required
  • Completed applications need to be submitted to CGSR by the students department by due date.

    Reference Letter - please complete the applicant section, save and forward electronically or by regular mail to your reference. Your reference must forward the completed reference letter to the appropriate Adjudicating Committee.
